The garden's design and the ideas behind it

As with any work of art or building, garden design followed the fashions of the time, which would change depending on the system of rule and the mindset of the respective time period. The garden records trace which ideas and period ideals formed the basis for the two garden designs at Rastatt Favorite Palace. The park itself is also an example of what inspired people then!

Pay special attention to color when reading the plaques: Topics relating to the Baroque garden are marked in red, those pertaining to the landscape garden are green.
